PET-CT is now an essential imaging technique in oncology. Making it possible to study the metabolic activity of tissues using a radioactive tracer, it has profoundly transformed the methods of caring for patients with cancer. But the possibilities it offers also allow it to play an important role in the development of diagnoses of non-cancerous pathologies.
The work first recalls the anatomy of the structures present at the level of the whole body (skeleton skin muscles fat and lymph nodes). Then classified by anatomical region, the pathologies can be compared thanks to more than 800 high quality images. Malignant pathology benign tumors infectious pathology degenerative pathology and possibly systemic diseases are thus widely documented in order to underline what can help in the differential diagnosis. Are thus successively approached: the brain the neck and the face the thorax the breasts the abdomen the urinary system the adrenals the female pelvis the prostate the testicles and pediatrics. This organization overlaps daily practice during the interpretation of PET-CT examinations.
This work, intended primarily for an audience of nuclear physicians, radiologists, oncologists and hematologists who are experienced or in the making, is the first reference work in French on the subject.
