Medical facilities are places that serve to care for and treat illnesses, but where violence and neglect against patients can also occur. Since November 2020, it has therefore been mandatory for medical facilities to develop a protection concept against (sexualized) violence based on a requirement of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA).
So far, there have been hardly any comprehensive guidelines for the development of protection concepts in the medical-therapeutic field. This book fills this gap:
The authors first go into the specific characteristics of the medical-therapeutic work context and give general information on the development of protection concepts. They then present the elements of a protection concept and give practical recommendations for its development, implementation and evaluation. For each element, supplementary worksheets with exercises and reflections encourage implementation in your own institution. In addition, tips are also given for adapting to different settings: child and adolescent psychiatric and somatic areas, inpatient or outpatient structures, and transfer to other target groups (e.g. caring for people with disabilities). Representations of protection processes in various clinics make it clear as practical examples,
The book sees itself as a practical handbook and is aimed at doctors, therapists and all other specialists in the medical-therapeutic field who want to develop protective measures – so that clinics and practices remain places of protection instead of becoming the scene of a crime.
