Emergency care in rural areas is at risk because, among other things, the number of emergencies is increasing, complex operations are increasing and the number of emergency doctors is falling. How it is nevertheless possible to maintain emergency care is the subject of the large pilot project “Land|Rettung”, which is funded by the innovation fund of the Federal Joint Committee. The main results of the project are summarized in this book. The innovative concept includes four pillars: 1. Strengthening of lay resuscitation, 2. Smartphone-based first responder alarm, 3. Tele-emergency doctor system, 4. Cooperation between the rescue service and the emergency medical service.
