By Roland Seifert
Almost every German citizen takes medicines, often several. But often neither the doctor nor the pharmacist have enough time to explain to the patient why he needs a drug, how it works and what side effects it has. If the patient then looks at the package insert, he is usually not informed, but rather unsettled. This then leads to compliance problems in drug therapy. Patients often go to several doctors without them knowing about it (doctor hopping). If these doctors prescribe several drugs, dangerous interactions can occur. The legislature has recognized this problem and therefore recently put the law for more security in the supply of medicines (GSAV) into force. But it is difficult for the patient to obtain objective information. Although he finds an infinite amount of “information” on the Internet, it is usually not possible to deduce connections and weightings from it. In the end, the confusion is greater than before. This non-fiction book enlightens and provides the facts that you need to know as a patient.
