The demand for fossil fuels is increasing steadily. At the same time, due to the oxidation processes, they produce carbon dioxide in the power generation, which then escapes into the atmosphere and there, as a greenhouse gas, adsorbs and remits the thermal radiation.
For some time now, new nuclear power plants have been built in some countries. Global acceptance of nuclear power generation suffered from the Chernobyl and Fukushima disasters, with Chernobyl being based on human error, while the reactor blocks in Fukushima were optimally designed for earthquakes, but not for a tsunami. The book summarizes the state of the art, takes into account public participation processes as well as foreseeable developments in lifestyles and political requirements.
