By Uta Jaenicke
This book presents a new approach to working with dreams in psychotherapy. The practical procedure is comprehensibly derived from the theory based on existential philosophy and illustrated with many illustrative examples. Dreams prove to be helpful in recognizing the patient’s fundamental problems and making them therapeutically fruitful. In the course of therapy, dreams provide information about changes, developments and blockages in the therapeutic process, especially with regard to the therapeutic relationship.
From the content:
Dreams in their various contexts: (1) in relation to significant waking experiences of current life and past life history, (2) in relation to the therapeutic situation, the therapeutic relationship, as an indicator of changes over the course of therapy, (3) in relation to fundamental emotional problems (e.g. fears, desires, insecurities, conflicts, defensiveness), (4) in relation to characteristic personality traits (e.g. depressed, obsessive), (5) in relation to a hidden confrontation with questions of the humanness.
