By Maik Ebersoll, Roman Grinblat, Marianna Hanke-Ebersoll, Thorsten Junkermann
The articles in this specialist book present the economic importance of the healthcare system for a society from different perspectives. Economic, social science, medical and legal perspectives are opened up. After an overview of the complexity and a classification of the diversity of the healthcare system, insights into the perspectives of the respective stakeholders in the healthcare system follow. However, current methodological, procedural and technological issues and challenges such as digital health technologies are also addressed, partly from a theoretical and partly from a practical perspective. This interdisciplinarity allows the reader to to expand one’s own focus and to promote a more holistic and at the same time more diversified view of a central functional system of modern societies. In addition to the unsurprising confirmation that the health care system is of significant economic importance for a national economy, the individual contributions also show its complexity and multifaceted nature, as well as the need to constantly renegotiate compromises, sometimes with conflicting interests and objectives.
