David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA Board Review
Enrich your knowledge and stay current on the latest advances in vascular surgery with this comprehensive CME course.
Stay Current on the Latest Advances
Comprehensive Review and Update of What’s New in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery is an extensive review of vital topics in vascular surgery. This CME course focuses on four major pillars of vascular surgery—conventional open operations, catheter based intervention, the medical aspect of patient management, diagnostic imaging and noninvasive testing. It will help you to:
- Define indications, technique, and results of open vascular operations including carotid endarterectomy, repair of AAA, aorto-femoral bypass, and infra-inguinal bypass
- Illustrate adept management of varicose veins and deep venous occlusive disease
- Describe indications, technique, and results of catheter based intervention including endovascular repair of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysm, aorto-iliac and femoral-popliteal-tibial occlusive disease, and carotid artery stenting
- Modify management of vascular diseases including hypertension, risk factor modification, the use of anti-platelet, anti-coagulant, and statin therapy
- Accurately interpret diagnostic studies including duplex ultrasound, magnetic resonance angiography, CT angiography, and catheter based contrast angiography

Learning Objectives
The primary objective of this course is to provide the evidence basis for the clinical practice of vascular disease management. After viewing this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe the indications, technique, and results of the spectrum of open vascular operations including such common procedures as carotid endarterectomy, repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm, aorto-femoral bypass, and infra-inguinal bypass
- Outline the management of varicose veins and deep venous occlusive disease
- Identify the indications, technique, and results of the spectrum of catheter-based intervention including endovascular repair of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysm, aorto-iliac and femoral-popliteal-tibial occlusive disease, and carotid artery stenting
- Manage vascular disease including treatment of hypertension, risk factor modification, the use of anti-platelet, anti-coagulant, and statin therapy
- Interpret diagnostic studies including duplex ultrasound, magnetic resonance angiography, CT angiography, and catheter-based contrast angiography
Intended Audience
This educational activity was planned for practicing vascular surgeons and vascular surgery residents, who wish to review their specialty and update their knowledge of new topics in this rapidly expanding field.
